Hi Alan,

I am new to the forum,so please excuse me if this has been asked before.I am here on a 457 visa and will be turning 45 in December this year, however my employer is willing to sponsor me for a ENS visa.Greatnews I thought ,however I do not have a degree ,which means i have to wait the full 2 years before I can apply.i have taken note of the paper which has gone out re increasing the age limit to 50,do you know if this is a real possibility or will i still need to show exeptional circumstances!!I am a engineering recruiter in the rseources sector with 15 years experience and my employer interviewd 30 people before bringing me out from the UK,where I ran my own business for the last 10 years. Thanks in advance

Hi Alan

I am also new to the forum and have a question about the age limit/visa type. I have been offered a job and I am currently getting paperwork together for a ENS 121. I requested this type of visa as I will be 50 next year. The company have been happy to pursue this but due to the processing time there has been a suggestion of applying for a 457 first and then lodge a 856 (skills assessed) when I arrive in Oz. If I submitted my 121 from UK and the company decide to go for 457 can my 121 paperwork convert to 856? Also does a DRC 121 make a big difference to the processing time? Many thanks

Hello jorr, and welcome to the forum.

A permanent residency visa application under the ENS or RSMS that is accompanied by a decision ready checklist is likely to progress to a visa decision in the same timeline (or less) than a 457 visa application.

However, if there is a need for a skills assessment to accompany the ENS application the overall timeline would probably be longer for the ENS application.

ENS and RSMS applications that are not accompanied by a DRC can easily take several months to be processed.

Hope this helps - feel able to contact us if you'd like to discuss:
