hubby and i nearing 70.would like to know how much we would have to part with if we were to go for the aged parent visa. two children in oz.

The costs will depend on whether you mean the onshore subclass 804 Aged Parent visa or whether you mean the Contributory Parent visa. If you mean the latter, the 2nd Instalment is likely to rise at some point during the 2008/9 Program Year, I would guess. (The Year began on 1st July.) Each year, the Australian Government Actuary does some calculations to work out what the 2nd Instalment should be for CPVs. He is late with the figures this year, possibly because of the recent increase in the annual number of visas available. My guess is that they will probably increase the 2nd Instalment once the Actuary has produced his new figures.

Again, if you mean the cost of the CPV then the “split visa strategy” might become possible if that particular loophole remains open. Please see this thread:
