I'm not sure what relevance the above posting has to this thread ...
In any event, the MAP is not now coming into effect on the 1st of September, and the content is likely to be subject to some amendments before it is eventually finalised.
Best regards.

hi alan, i am in the process of trying to mirgate, i am a self employed tiler 10 years ,with my nvq in tiling, i am with a agent at the moment, but have been affected by the pathway d remval, agent has told me hang on for another month to see what happens with the new one , then may look for a sponsor, like to hear what you thing alan, thanks for your time Neil.
I would be awaiting the new MAP, but I recommend setting a deadline by which time you might progress a workplace assessment leading to the issuing of an AQF Certificate III (and an application for a migration skills assessment based on that qualification) if TRA has not published updated guidance.
Based on past performances you/we could be waiting months before a new MAP is issued ...
Best regards.

hi allan! I'm a cake decorator for 8 years here in the Philippines and self employed for 5 years. Had vocational trainings in cake decorating and baking since 2001.in 2006 i enrolled in a culinary school here and obtained diploma in baking and pastry arts. It is a 14 month course with 400 hours of on-the-job training that can be verified with our government. Im with an agent here and advised me to hold my application because here in the philippines we don't have apprenticeship program and wait for the new tra to have a chance for a positive review. Can you help me straight on my tra? thanks for your help in advance

after reading the proof draft of thr new TRA requirements it seems as though i have to produce a uk trade cert on a par with an AQF 111 how do about checking which uk quaifacation is of the right standard any ideas anyone
Given that TRA itself won't pass comment on which qualifications are considered comparable it is unlikely you will receive the comfort I sense you are seeking.
My recommendation is to lodge an application demonstrating a skills transition, ideally supported with an informal or a formal apprenticeship, and evidenced by a UK trade qualification.
Further, in my humble view, you will increase your prospects of success if you engage a professional advisor who has lodged applications under TRA's assessment regime in the past. Maybe telephone my office in Southampton on 023 80 30 2525, and ask to speak with my registered migration agent colleague Emma Smith-Jones.

I am a Cook with 24 years experience and I recently applied to the TRA to get my trade recognised but regrettably the TRA wrote back to said that “it was not clear the applicant has completed the necessary level or period of Formal Training as a Cook as required of the skill pathway. Additionally there was insufficient evidence of the applicant having completed an apprenticeship or traineeship as required of the skill pathways” but the TRA did note my city & guilds part one certificate in Cookery for the Catering Industry. Regrettably I spent two years at college full time which should of fulfilled the 900 hours training but since I don’t possess the city & guilds part two certificate in Cookery for the Catering Industry and when I left college their was no apprenticeship or traineeship programs around which I had to get a job I am wondering what my options there could be to get my trade recognised as there is currently no pathway D available. Currently I work as a kitchen manager for a primary school here in the UK and also have a NVQ3 in Hospitality supervision plus other certificates for food hygiene and recently obtained a certificate in healthier food & special diets.
You may want to consider attending a workplace assessment in the UK carried out by one of the Australian registered training organisations, leading to the issuing of an AQF Certificate III.
That done, you may then be able to seek a migration assessment from TRA under their Skill Pathway E.
If you would like to discuss further please send me an email (alan - at - gomatilda - dot - com), or telephone our office in Southanpton on 023 80 30 25 25. I would ask for my migration agent colleague Emma Smith-Jones.

Hi. my husband is a wall and floor tiler. we have been informed by Stephen at Go Matilda that our best bet is to get the AQF III. Silver trowel do this for £3000- however, before we fork out all this money, our dilemma is- He has never done a formal apprenticeship-(self taught for 5 yrs) Once he gets the AQF, we hear he would have to send off a reference from a fully qualified tiler, (accountant letter, Customers etc is fine)but all the tilers he knows are self taught, like him.
Does the AQF cancel out the need for an apprenticeship in the first instance? and how much work do you need to do 'after' the AQF is gained, if any- before applying?
We will be delighted to answer technical questions such as this if you engage us as your advisor ...
Best regards.
