Hi all,

My family and i are travelling to Brisbane for a month in July. We are hoping to move out some time late next year. My concern is flying via SIngapore, i know that is a while away but should i think about changing my flight NOW or leave it a while. I was thinking of changing the flight, instead of stopping at Singapore i would change it direct flight.

What are other views on this?.
What would anyone else do?

PLEASE help Adivise needed...... x

We booked our flights to Brisbane last Thursday (we're travelling in July) and we're going via Singapore. At the time Singapore hadn't had any outbreaks but now they have! So I too was getting worried over the weekend. However, the rep from the airline told us that they'd re route our flight if necessary. My only concern now is that all flights might be reduced and we've paid top price!

Hi Karen,

thank you for your reply. I think i am going to redirect, but i was also thinking about flying direct? ? maybe it's to long i dont know.

I really feel uneasy about flying with singapore airlines. I did'nt know whether to leave it a while, or change it now. Do you think my insurance will cover the extra money if i was to go direct?

Are you going for a holiday or moving over.
where you off to?

Hi All,

We too are planning on flying to Brisbane in July (one way tickets only) and we were going with Singapore Airlines. We were going to stop over for a couple of days. But I have now been informed that we could fly with Air New Zealand. It is a longer route, from London to L.A then Auckland then Brisbane. This way round only cost an extra £30 each, so thats another option. Mind you if anyone knows of a flight that goes direct from the USA to Brisbane I would like to know.

Hi Karen

wow i bet you are excited. We are heading to Brisbane for holiday and when our visa's come through we will be heading out too. But not for a year or so. (SOB). Hopefully the time will go quick.

What part are you moving moving to?

How long did it take you?

We are going through the investment route. We are in the early stages. If you have any tips i would be gratefull.
My email is Sunshine.151@virgin.net if you prefer to send there. I wish you lots and lots of luck in your wonderful new life.

Take care
Lynn.

BA / Qantas fly direct from LA to Brisbane and Sydney and Melbourne and I am sure there are others. Longest flights in the world (Melbourne is the record, with LS-Sydney flight coming in second longest). I know you can also fly direct to Australia from San Diego and would assume that the planes wouldn't make it if it was any further than the East Coast US. If you have upgrade points with your airline - use them for this flight to pop yourself in Business Class at least as it is a killer. If not, best of luck and walk around as much as you can!!
As for the 'direct' flights from the UK via Asia, this simply isn't possible as the planes cannot safely carry enough fuel. All flights, even if they are considered direct, stop for at least a refuelling stop somewhere in Asia, if you are going that route. The only option is to travel via the US, and that is only an option if they can apply pressure to contain the situation.
And be prepared for long queues at the Australian end as well, as they don't take too kindly to the threat of bugs, particularly airborne ones.
As for the person concerned with paying top dollar for their tickets, never fear. The airlines are cancelling flights, so already heavily congested flights to Australia will only become more so. And flight prices will reflect this. Be thankful you have a flight booked. We are struggling this end to find a reasonable seat!
Cheers and Happy Travelling.
