Skills assessment

Hi everyone,

I can not put in my visa application until December 2006 as I need one years post qualifying experience in my job to get the extra points needed for a skilled independent.

My question is: Can I put in for a skills assessment with AIWCW before December as I have five years experience , albeit unqualified and meet the competency requirements stated. I intend to be assessed as a Welfare Worker using my DipSw qualification.

Also is there anything else that I could be doing in the meantime, police checks, medicals? I am desperate to be doing something now we have made the decision to go for it!

Any advice gratefully received.

Skills assessments, medicals and Police checks have time limits on them. So if you get them too early you will end up having to do them again and that will be extra cost.

What about practical things to do declutter, find out what you will do with policies, tax and pensions etc etc.

I wish i had done these earlier as I am having to do them now whilst waiting to sell my house.

Good luck

Alison
