Hi,

Paul & i have just sent our forms to our agent for submission to TRA, Does anyone out there know rough current timescales for a decision on skills assessments? We are applying to have Paul's skills as a maintenance fitter assessed.

thanks,

The official timeline is 20 working days - can be more or less ... we sent ours in mid December and had approved result 1st week of Feb - not bad considering the festive season slow down. Good luck!

thanks for your replies, lets hope our assessment runs as smoothly!!!

paul & i are planning to go to brisbane eventually, we want to ideally spend a few months travelling around to see the country 1st before we get into a routine.

yes, we have both been before, i have been to brisbane twice & paul has been to quite a few places! we were debating on perth or brisbane, but opted for brisbane for the year round weather & a central location for travelling to most major places of interest to us. paul is also a keen mountain biker and wants to be close to mountains, which brisbane is. plus i've got distant relatives there t oo(who i keep in touch with more than my close relatives who live locally!!!). what about you jo, where are you hoping to go to?

hi jo,

i agree totally about britain getting worse by the day. one of our main reasons for wanting to emigrate is for the sake of our children. we haven't got any yet but we are getting married in april next year and will probably think about starting a family not too long after that as i'm not getting any younger!!! hopefully this will co-incide nicely with getting visa's approved.

good luck with the visa application, have you been given any timescale guides for that part yet? from reading other forums, people seem to be saying between 6-9 months if all goes smoothly so hope this is the case for you, keep me updated!!!

hi jo,

good luck with the meds & pcc's. it is all very exciting isn't it!!!

we have heard from our agent today. they say that the TRA are being extremely quick at the moment so that is good news, we are hoping the agent will receive the reference from paul's employer by thurs (his boss says his wife was sending it today) so hopefully our assessment should go into them by the end of the week and if its anything like yours was we should know by the end of august. Fingers crossed!!!
