Hi Alan
Could the skills shortage be managed if they decided not to replace Pathway D with anything comparable, please? I don't know how much of an impact Pathway D was making on the ability to put people into jobs that badly need doing in Oz.
My Mum says that trying to find a plumber in Perth at the minute is like looking for a needle in a haystack. She says that they've all got so much other work on that they are not interested in doing one one-off shower installation in one house.
Cheers
Gill

Hello Gill. In answer to your question: it rather depends on whether the new Minister wants to allow significant queues to develop within the skilled program, or whether he is receptive to using skilled migration to alleviate some acute skills shortages in Australia. If the second scenario is positive, the issue then becomes whether the Minister sees those skills shortages being satisfied from the existing skilled caseload, or whether the pool of prospective Skill Pathway D applicants (of which I perceive there are a fairly sizeable number) is to be tapped to help overcome labour shortages. The jury is presently out on where Senator Chris Evans is going with the various migration programs ... I have drafted a letter to him with my observations and thoughts on Skill Pathway D, CP visas, etc which I am intending to finalise and send to him in this coming week. Best regards. Possibly. There are not sufficient details in your posting for me to be more definite. Maybe telephone a migration agent to discuss? In case of need you can reach us on Southampton number 023 80 30 2525 - I would ask for John Sylvester. Best regards.
