Hi
My husband and I are permanent residents, and have lived here for 2 years.

My parents are interested in moving out, they are both early 50's so not old enough to retire, they would both want to work. My mum is a foster carer for adults with disabilities, an would like to do the same thing here. My dad is a brewer so im sure he could also find work.

What kind of visa application would be available to them? as we have no idea where to start looking.
I should add that I have one sibling who lives in England so 50% of the siblings are here in OZ.

Also have i read this right, that a parent visa application costs $25'000 per parent?

Thanks for any help offered

Em.

Hello Em.

I think a Contributory Parent visa application is likely to be their strategy, as plain vanilla Parent subclass 103 visa applications are taking many years to be processed, due to the low number of s/c 103 visas available.

Unfortunately CP visa applications are not cheap, and the present main DIAC Visa Application Charge (payable when the visa application is about to be granted) is now A$37,965 per parent.

Add to this the required Assurance of Support Bonds (A$10k for parent 1, plus A$4k for parent 2), medicals, etc and you can see the total costs are not for the faint hearted.

A two step strategy is also possible, which splits the costs: a subclass 173 temporary CP visa to start with, followed by the permanent CP visa application within a couple of years.

If you or your parents would like to discuss please feel able to telephone us:

Or send me a Private Message with your name and telephone number (click on my name to the left of this post).

Hope this helps!

Thank you Alan

That seems like an awful lot of money, are they purposefully making it unaffordable for people to weedle them out?
