My wife and I are seriously looking at applying for visas (176 skilled sponsored). I have sent off my qualifications to Engineers Australia and am waiting for their approval.

Our question is about UK benefits. At present my wife is unable to work, we expect that in six months or so that this will have changed.

We have noticed on the medical examination form (form 26) there is a question (25) about Government financial assistance for medical reasons. Currently she is in receipt of Disability Living Allowance and Incapacity Benefit. In six months time she will probably not need these and will be working. Does anyone know whether being in receipt of benefits for medical reasons will stop our application? We have enough points and an Australian sponsor but are worried that this is overshadowed by the benefits receipt issue. We will not be seeking benefits in Australia.
