Just a quick thought, is it worth having the Medical and a Police check done and submitting them with the original application, thus not waiting until it is requested?

Anyone have any thoughts on that or ever done it?

It depends on what type of visa you are applying for.

Alan,
I know if you look at the UK web site they are quoting times of 20 months for the application to be processed, it just seamed a little strange to send everything without the medical and police check. Confused

The UK High Commission will send out the medical forms to anyone who asks for them. I would have thought that the people processing the pack would prefer it all together.

Thanks
Mark

Police checks and medicals are only valid for 1 year, so if your application takes longer you will have to pay for them to be done again.

Hello Mark.

The UK website is (still) referring to the timescale for permanent skilled applications lodged with the High Commission in London pre 01/11/2001.

The timeframe for the processing of non-priority processed skilled applications lodged in Adelaide (which is where all skilled applications must be lodged post 01/11/2001) is currently about 12 months - which still means that a front-end loaded application runs the very real risk of the medicals and police reports expiring pre visa grant => much better to lodge medicals when asked or about 8 months after lodgement of the application.

I'd only consider front-end loading a skilled application if your application is going to be fast tracked (ie if you are a nurse, have a State Nomination, or are a 139-Skilled Designated Area Sponsored visa applicant) and are intending to travel to Australia soon after visa grant.

Best regards.

Alan,
thanks for letting me know. I think I'll just put in the application form without the medical when the wife comes back to the UK.

I've applied for a Police check in the UK and got her to ask for one from the Ukraine whilst she is there, so I may as well send those off if I have them.

Regards
Mark
