Hi. My cousin is in Australia at the moment on a year working Visa. She's from the UK and is with her boyfriend who is from Hong Kong, who is also on a 1 year working visa. She has recently discovered she is pregnant and will give birth before she comes back to the UK. What implication, if any, does this have on her staying in Oz? Is she granted permission to stay there, or what exactly? What is the legal position on something like this?

There is no automatic right to remain in Australia. Check also with Medicare whether there will be a requirement to meet certain medical costs if baby is born in an Australian public hospital ...

Best regards.
