We sent out application on the 1st Feb 2003 and we are eagerly looking out our bank account on a daily basis to see if there are any signs of DIMA taking lots of money from us. It is silly because you have to put your life on hold. Do you buy a new washing machine, if your packs up? Do you start getting all excited at the fact that there may not be any more cold winters? I am just starting the longest part of the processes, but I am already in a tizzy over it all! Looking at Austimesline.com it is taking people about one and a half months to get the payment taken and the letter of confirmation. 6-8 months for the request for medicals and about 10 months for the visa to be granted. All I can say is HURRY UP PLEASE! quote: Originally posted by Carrianne: Hiya,
I am like you as well impatient to hear although not impatient for the whole process. We applied skilled independant on teh 07.02.03 we have been told to expect to do our medicals and Police checks in about August. Hence if approved having to be in Australia by Aug next yea.
Good luck and don't worry (she says)

We are using an Immigration Lawyer in Sydney (sister of a friend). We sent our Application to them on Feb. 24th 2003. It was received in Sydney on the 27th and they in turn sent it to Adeliade the next day. We got an email from the Immigration Dept (via the Immigration Lawyer) to say it was received and to expect to wait 50-52 weeks for the application to be processed. I don't know why I got a reply so much quicker than the rest of you did. We going via Skilled Migration, but I also have an uncle who lives there who is sponsoring us. In the email from the Immigration people it said that if your skills were on their top list then it the application process would take 12-16 weeks! Big difference.

HI! My application reached DIMIA in the middle of March and I got an e-mail acknowldgement and File Numbner just the next day. It seems that those whose applications reched in March are getting instant acknowledgements. Probably DIMIA is changing its ways. Hopes for all of us.

We have also noticed a number of applications being both acknowledged and processed to health check stage relatively quickly of late. I sense this is as a result of more staff being brought into the skilled processing centre ... Best regards. quote: Originally posted by engin77: HI!
