2 Years ago my wife, myself and our two children went to live in Perth, on a twelve month visa. During our time there we experienced what I could only call un-savory charicters who conned and manipulated our position of unfamiliarity with our new arrival in Aus. We were conned out of nearly 20,000 pounds, and left owing debts. Added to this was the loss of both my parents and two very close uncles, my wife lost her grandfather and best freind who died of cancer, this all happend within our first 6 months of arriving. Because we left in such a haste our debts were unpaid (not out of wanting not to pay, but the necesertay of getting back to the UK. Instructions were left with casual freinds we new from our home city in the UK who were also living in Perth,that debts we had left needed to be paid, which we left them with the money, anyway it came to notice a few months back that both these freinds had not paid these debts but had also added to our debt in the form of speeding fines (two to my knowledge). What I need to know is if I wish to go back wether it be for a holiday or work, how will my application fair, how can I find all those I owe money to and pay them back and finally if I do pay this money back (which I wish to do either way) will it still affect my apllication. Allthough I may paint a horrible picture of Perth, I would like to point out that Perth and the majority of its citizens were great, freindly and welcoming people, the city is one of the best places I have had the pleasure of living in and would recommend it to anyone, my only advice is choose youre freinds carfully and those who you do business with more, get to know people and take their advice, we found this out too late and to our cost.
