Visa options??? What to do

Hi Alan/all
Ok to cut a long story short my Mrs is about to qualify as a primary teacher in July then needs 1 years experience before she can apply for a skilled visa.
However recently I've become aware that I myself COULD obtain a 139 visa, btu I need to do a skills assessment, with my qualification being vocational it's unsure if it'd pass the skills assessment, been told by one agency it won't!
So my question is do I try skills assessment and possibly waste my money (I don't have vast amounts so am loathed to waste it) and effort or do I just sit back and wait for my wife to qualify and get enough experience.
Not sure I want to wait any longer than possible but I just don't know what to do!

Any advice please Confused

I suppose it not only depends the timescales of the visa, but also the intentions for work when you are there. It might be worth initially researching the best route for work, either through your qualifications or your wife's. I would expect that the prospect for securing work, would be enhanced with experience.

Hi Bradders

Do you have any certificates (post secondary). The reason I ask is that you say your qualification is vocational - I have just has a positive from Vetassess with a National Vocational Qualification 4. You may possibly be able to get an NVQ through your work. It's worth looking into, give me shout if you need any more info.

Hi Lisa I have NVQ 3 have been told that it can and cannot pass the assessment Confused. VETASSESS say it is generally ok but what is generally Confused. Have been told by representative of an immigration agent that it is not acceptable? Think I'm gonna give it a go and see what happens, emailing some stuff to another agent this week and will see what they say ($50 to give their account of what next step should be Eek)

Wish I'd started my NVQ 4 last year Frown going to do it this year but will be far too late to go for current 139 visa...

What occupation are you nominating? I have heard of people getting positive's with level 3's, but i suppose it depends on the occupation. I've been through Vetassess three times before they gave me a positive - so I know what your going through. Good luck in whatever you decide.

Going for residential care officer I know it's a 40 point occupation so has lower requirement. Have emailed them several times to be told they generally accept NVQ 3, but I know some have not been successful and some have Confused. Really annoys me that I can't get an exact answer Mad
