if you got the list of approved panel drs off the consulate webpage. there should be a number for handsworth medical centre. birmingham. they do medicals and xrays on same site.i'm sure they are cheaper, childrens medicals fifty pounds, think the xrays and blood tests are cheaper aswell. give them a ring after 10.30 weekdays

Hi Wildgoose
We are going with Nufield @ Nottingham. They look a lot cheap on the whole
Adult £75, Child £50, HIV & Hep's £22, Postage £10. Xrays £71 for 1 £120 for 2 £180 for 3. (Only necessary over 11)

Strange thing is there payable in cash.
Not sure whether you need Hep's though unless you do a particular job or have got lots of tatoos or something like a nose ring!
Best wishes regards Paul.

Hi

We went to Nuffield in Cambridge as they did xrays on the same day.

2 Adults and 2 Children cost £910!
This was because we both needed Hep B & C as we both have tatoos. These cost £100 per person.

Hope this helps.

Oh we got our visa granted on 15th September! So its worth it!

Best of luck

Claire

HI Guys,
You all seem to be paying rather alot more than my wife and I did!
We paid £50 x2 for xrays and £105 x2 for meds which included an HIV test. I also have tattoos but dont know If I had a Hep test or not!!!
Xrays and meds both done in Norwich about 4 miles from each other.

We got our visas on 15th July 2005,
Good luck all

Hi Wildgoose

Are you still in Notts or have you jetted off to Brisbane yet.
My name is Mick i'm an Electrician in Nottingham hoping to go to Brisbane Mid 2006 with my wife and 2 daughters 13 & 16. TRA passed main Application just about in. You say you have fould a cheaper place for Meds would you be able to let me know who that is? My nephew & his wife moved out to Brisbane 4 years ago they love it.

Hope you have the time to reply

Good luck

Mick

Hi all
I was quoted £200 each for husband and myself for meds and x-ray, £110 for daughter who would need x-ray and med, and £60 for son - just medical. This was with bupa and in north wales. I explained that as on a temporary visa myself and husband would only need an x-ray, and it took a lot of talking to them and a letter from Aus to have them believe me. They were reluctant to lower the charge right up to the last minute saying that they sold the x-ray and medical as a package. They reduced the cost by £50 each for us both.
The doctor had me fill out the passport number bits of the form as he said it was a monotonous job, and he said that he did not need to see my husband.
I think if you have the time it is a good idea to look around and ask for quotes before you commit.

Thanks Wildgoose

I know the Nuffield well I had a couple of small op's on my nose last year (medical not cosmetic)."Gun capital of the UK" is what they say but to tell you the truth I've never seen anything more than a drunken punch up in the city centre. Saying that dont work your kind of hours.
Which parts of Brissy have you been looking at to settle? Where concidering the North Lakes area. New large developments planned over the next 5 to 10 years.

Thanks again

Mick

Hi Wildgoose

Thats the right area hoping to buy some land and build our own house using a registed builder. My nephew has just brought a plot in the same area and having his house built next year. May even consider picking work up in the same North Lakes development area.

Thanks again and good luck with your move

Mick

Yes that sounds about right. We are a family of 4 one child is 11 the other 8yrs old. The 11 yr old had to have the chest x ray done so that was another 80 quid. Total amount for us all was around the 850 mark. We both had hep b tests due to having tattoos Hope this helps
Nikki
