Spouse Visa or Skilled Migrant visa???

I am an Australian citizen who is living in the UK on an Ancestry Visa(since 2003). I met my Scottish husband in late 2003 and we were married in 2008.
We visited Australia for just over 12months in 2006/7 where after initially working on a holiday visa he was sponsored by his employer to stay before we returned to UK for personal reasons.
We now have a wee boy who was born November 2009 who has a UK passport and I am in the process of applying for an Australian passport to give him dual citizenship.
We are considering moving to Australia and are unsure whether to go down the Skilled migrant route or the spousal route.
My husband is an Accountant, however while he has about 9 years accounting experience he has not yet completed his ACCA exams. He is studying towards this qualification again but does this mean we would be better applying for the spousal visa?

Would we be better off just applying for the spousal visa anyway?
My concern with this is whether he will be allowed to work when we arrive as he is the sole breadwinner at the moment while I take care of our son.

Any advice will be much appreciated with regard to cost of visa's and application times as well as likelihood of success..

Many thanks
Tegan
