Brian, You can use the WHM visa while the skilled visa application is being processed. Best regards. Hello Alan
Could you please advise is this also the case if you apply on shore? I am currently in Oz on a 572 and plan to apply next year for the 886, do I have to remain in the country whilst the visa is processed?
Thank you in advance for your help.

No, but you may require a suitable bridging visa to return to Australia. Best regards. Make sure not to break the conditions of the WHV you can only work for any one employee for 6 months quote: Originally posted by Brian S: Hi,
My situation is as follows: By September I will have been in my career long enough to apply for a skills assessment. Assuming the result of this skills assessment is positive, I intend to apply for a Skilled Independent visa.
However, I currently have a working holiday visa (unused so far). I know that the Skilled Visa processing time can be the best part of a year, and so I was wondering whether it would be possible to spend a few months in Oz on the WH visa while the skilled visa application is being processed? Or would the very act of applying for the Skilled visa make the Wh visa invalid?
Thanks in advance for your help Brian
