Has anyone done the Vetassess practical for Plumbers. My OH is looking to do the one in April and would appreciate any information as to what to expect. I understand this test is in Accrington - are tools provided, or will he have to bring his own from London.
Don't know if this is of any interest to you lot, but, my agent told me to go down the gas fitter route, because they don't asses over here.I will have to be assesed in Aus though, but I think that goes for general plumber as well. Anyway, I put gas fitter down, and had the TRa approval in about 10 days, AND no practical to sit!
THAT IS USEFUL INFORMATION TO US. HOW MUCH WORK EXPERIENCE DO YOU NEED TO PASS THE TRA. OH HAS BEEN QUALIFIED AND CORGI REGISTERED ONLY ONE YEAR SO THEREFORE HAS ONLY ONE YEAR POST QUAL WORK EXPERIENCE.

Hi As far as I am aware you have to have been in a trade for three of the last four years, wish I'd of known about the gas fitter route, but then again maybe its better to know that you've passed an assessment here before going over to Australia and have the stress of passing over there!

I beleive you need to work full time in the occupation for 3 of the last 4 years. I did not have any actual proof though. My employer has retired and moved on,and the TRA accepted a signed declaration by me-which is good of them, because only me and my previous employer could verify!! You will also need to pass a assesment in Aus to work wether you have done one over in the UK or not. The assesment over here in the UK is to verify you for the TRA, NOT to give you a'ticket' to work in Aus. A friend of mine sat the test for the TRA over here, got to Perth, and had to pay $1500 to be able to work over there as a plumber.-It could be different in other states though, but I doubt it.
