We have decided not to vaccinate our kids. Does anybody have any personal experiences to share as to whether schools and/or Aus gov services would give us a hard time when we finally move Downunder. Would our kids be refused enrollment in school for instance? Thanks Ariel
have you got residency yet? i dont know if lack of vaccination would cause you problems with application, i know it states that it is not statutory but panel drs at medical certainly seek clarification of up to date vaccination status for children regards

Hi - we had our meds done in June and have 2 kids. Both have been immunised but we couldn't find the kids records to take with us to the appointment. Doctor wasn't in the slightest bothered, just asked if they'd been immunised and we said yes. Don't think there's any requirement as such, just recommend they have the jabs. hope this helps!

Hi There Ariel
We came to Oz in April and have been looking at schooling for our son. He has had all his Jabs (infact more than the ozzies kids get). You do have to show that your child has had all compulsory immuisations or you sign a wavier and then keep your child off school if there are any outbreaks.
My 8 year old hasn't had most of his vaccs. either (just polio and tetanus). Complicated reasons - but now I haven't had him immunised I don't want to be forced to either. Where are you moving to? I am heading to Melbourne in November.
My post didn't give many explanations. We have lots of reasons why we do not want to vaccinate our kids but, like Scarlett was saying, it would take too long to explain and anyway would go way beyond the scope of this forum. No, they didn't give us a hard time during the Meds prior to getting the visas. Come to think of it, they didn't even ask us about it and we didn't say a thing. Had they, we would have been honest since we actually take pride in the fact that our kids are not vaccinated. To answer you question Scarlett, we're planning to go to Brisbane at the end of the year and would like to enroll our kids in primary school come February 2006. If they do give us a hard time, I will post it on Matilda. Thanks Ariel
