We are the parents of an english family who settled in PERTH 7 years ago.
Now we would like to join them and so could anyone give us advice on where to start.
How can all the things come together at the right time for leaving the UK?
How much will it cost,info needed for shipment of all our wordly goods,where does one start the ball rolling. thanks.

Assuming your children are Australian permanent residents or Australian citizens you should start by considering the visa choices, which are in essence:

1. A 4-year temporary Retirement visa (capable of being rolled over on a 2-yearly basis thereafter - but be aware of the need to pass a medical on each occasion of visa renewal), and/or
2. A Parent visa - ideally one of the new Contributory Parent visas that come into existence on the 1st of March 2003.

Hi Betty
We are in the process of migrating to Perth, hopefully won't be too long now.
We are going through John Mason removals, we have heard good reports about them, can't say through personal experience, except that when they came round to give us a quote, the chap was polite, curteous, and certainly new his stuff, they are based in croydon, I will find the telephone number if you would like it.
If you give them a ring they will help a great deal.

My husband and I are going to apply for a retirement visa Betty, so will be interested to know how you get along. If passed we will be going to Perth. Does anybody have an idea as to the cost of medical insurance for retirees?

Hi Ria,Sorry for the delay in replying.WE enquired about the retirement visa but will fall short on the annual income.We are now trying another way but seem unable to get the answers we like and need.
OUr BOF is no problem because by July 2004 we will have 2of our 3 daughters resident in Perth.
How are things going with you?Any decent developments since Feb?Betty.
