I'm not a medical practitioner, so I defer to the specialists as to whether or not this is a matter of significance.

Best regards.

Hi Jeanette

I also suffer with high blood pressure although it was ok on the day of meds.
But to be on the safe side I paid to have a 24 monitor put on by GP and then took the readings with me to the medicals and they were happy with that,
In fact the readings over a 24 hour period in my own home were a lot lower than they would have been had I had to go back to my GP for another test,

Well worth doing that - Good Luck

HI Caz
Thanks for that.
When we went for the med my blood presure was really high, although 10 days before I had had an operation and an hour before I had a row with a finance co, but i went on Fri and to my Docs and it was 160 over 90 which apparently the limit is 150 over 90 so I have said not to send the meds off yet until I can do something about it, unfortunately my Doc has gone on a 3 month holiday. We dont want to send the meds off yet for to fail on my blood pressure so not sure what to do now.!!!!
Anything you can tell me would be good at this stage.
Jeanette

hi,

was your blood pressure read by the electroninc machine or manual?, we went for our medicals and mine was high on 2 readings using the electronic one and then when the dr did manually it was ok (don't trust the electronic machines!!)
hope you get it sorted

Hi Jeanette

If your Doctors has more than one in the practice or had practice nurses at the surgery do what I did and ask for a 24 hour blood pressure monitor to be put on yourself. It's just the armband and a little machine attached to the tube from the armband that electronically pumps your arm up to take BP reading once every hour.
Then when you go back to doctors to have it taken off 24 hours later you will be given a print out of the 24 hour reading.
Mine is usually high but on the 24 hour reading it was averaged at normal.
Cost me around £95 to do this but I just explained to panel doctor at my meds that I suffer with high blood pressure (white coat syndrome) and I had a 24 hour monitor done and gave them a copy of the reading to send off with all the paperwork.

I also had knee and ankle surgery years ago but took a letter from my consultant with all the dates and the Ok from him that all was OK.

Better to take too much than not enough to the medicals.

Hope that helps and trust me the £95 was well worth it to save me worrying. BP was ok on day of meds though, in fact it was lower than Hubby's
