If you believe the federal government, Australia is in the grip of a major skills shortage. A new plan by the federal government aims to make it easier for businesses to bring in skilled migrants.

Hi Alan, I`d like to address this issue. Having recently migrated to South Australia I think there are tooooo many employees here. Just check out the classifieds in The Advertiser and see the criterior they are looking for. Even school leavers have to have experience and if you have experience they will tell you it must be a particuylar type of experience. If there was a shortage of skills here they could not be so choosy. Another point Alan, if there is a dreadful skill shortage why are tradesmen paid so badly. The VERY BEST STARTING RATE IS $17.00ph, and they expect you to provide ALL your own equipment. In my opinion the market is flooded here.
