The number of people migrating to Australia is expected to drop by 20 per cent by the end of the financial year as a result of government policy changes and shifts in economic conditions.
Figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics showed that net overseas migration (NOM) peaked in the 12 months to 31 March 2009 at 305,900 people.
