Governments must agree to an orderly release of housing development sites as part of their plans for sustainable cities, the head of Australia's largest group of real estate agents says.

Ray White Real Estate group chairman Brian White says several prime urban sites are ripe for development, at a time when the nation is experiencing surging migration growth, major housing supply shortages and low building approval levels.
