The Federal Government scheme to combat the skills shortage by importing workers was subject to serious concerns of exploitation, the body established to monitor to program says.
An email from the Migration Agents Registration Authority sent on June 21 talks of skilled migrants being underpaid and overworked and cites this as the reason for new Government regulations enforcing minimum pay rates and a 38-hour week.
