Cooks, hairdressers, park rangers and even butter makers have been axed from the skilled migration scheme.
The list of occupations has been slashed from 400 to 181 in a bid to stop people abusing the system to get permanent residency.
Immigration Minister Chris Evans said the new list had been drawn up by Skills Australia and would ensure the skilled migration scheme was demand-driven and not supply-driven.
