Migrants could be brought in to run childcare centres under changes announced by the Federal Government yesterday. As sections of the economy continued to struggle from a shortage of skilled workers, the Government added nine new occupations to the list of migrant skills most wanted.
Under the changes, people seeking general skilled migration visas would gain extra points towards entry if they were qualified in such occupations as childcare coordinator, surveyor, electrical engineer, mechanical engineer or five new computing specialisations.
