Michelle,

Stamp Duty is a tax that is raised by the State and Territory Governments, and therefore the amount you pay varies depending on where you buy a house/car/etc.

You should be entitled to the Federal Government's First Home Owner's Grant:
http://www.firsthome.gov.au/

Most of the State and Territory Governments also have a FHOG available (check the link at the foot of the firsthome.gov.au website).

Best regards.
