Hi
We are in the process of applying for our 405 visa. We are sponsored by SA. If we are granted the visa then presumably we will not be ordinarily resident in the UK for tax purposes. However on a 405 visa we do not appear to be permanent residents so are we subject to Australian tax? I would appreciate your comments.

Probably, yes. But as the holder of a temporary residency visa, you may well be a "temporary tax resident" of Australia, which means potentially some very welcome tax mitigation opportunities:

I also have a factsheet for temporary tax residents - send me an email with Subject Line "Temporary Tax Resident Factsheet Please" if you want a copy.

Best regards.
