My father in law migrated to Oz 8 months ago. About to complete his 1st tax return and having mammoth problems. Does anyone know who we an contact in relation to tax implications on lump sum payments received from UK pensions/superannuation?
Basically he received a lump sum on his UK super and only received it qhen he arrived in Oz. Need to know if he will have to pay tax on it here. His pension is still in the UK and he received a monthly payment for it.
I just need to know if anyone can recommend someone we can ask because the Aust Tax Office are giving us the run around :-(..... thanks heaps
Your father-in-law may well need to pay a firm of competent accountants to review the tax position and to advise as to any tax payable.
Feel able to send me an email if you would like a name and telephone number.
Best regards.
