It is pretty impossible to give a sum just like that as many thing depend on your circumstances. I've noticed that many immigrants complain that finding a job takes longer than they had originally predicted (average seems to be around 3-6 months but again depends on what you do-check some of the recruitment sites to see how in demand you are)so you have to consider how much you need to live for that period. You could start checking the real estate sites for rentals in the area you are interested in to get an idea. Next will you be shipping everything or starting from scratch? If from scratch there is an IKEA website to give you some ideas on furniture prices and then add in all the appliances, linens, etc....
Next think about a car, some school fees for the kids, deposits for gas, telephone, etc., takes a bit of time but information on just about anything can be found on the web now.
By this time you have probably given up the idea of moving to oz, right? No, don't do that! But I think it is important to do this sort of thing from the beginning so you can better estimate how much you can/want to spend on rent and all that when you arrive.
