Hi has anyone any ideas on transferring money to Australia and where to go to get the best exchange rate and the most reliable company etc. Would be keen to find out
I have been using a company called OzForex for the past 6 months or so and have had no problems with them whatsoever. They complete transactions promptly, communicate professionaly (by that I mean they respond quickly - pretty rare occurrence these days!)always offer the best rates and reward regular customers by offering even better 'best' rates (if that makes sense?!) I know this sounds like a bit of an advert but I can't fault them and I think they deserve to be recommended.
Afraid I can't help you there - my own bank failed to complete the simple task of sending fees to Go Matilda for the TRA so I wouldnt hold out much hope of them sorting any large sums of money!!!!
Thanks for this information, being a regular customer can i be extra nosy and ask what kind of rate of exchange they are offering currently. I Will contact them if you think that would be easier.
For it to work out cheaper than the bank rate, you have to transfer amounts of GPB5000,00 or more. I didnt use them in the end cos I didnt have that amount to transfer! Seems like there are no charges, they make their money on the interst rate.

I have a Nationwide Flex Account debit card with which I have been withdrawing money from ATMs in Perth. They don't charge anything for withdrawing cash (most banks charge about 1.5%) and the exchange rates seem to be excellent. Only thing is I think I am limited to 300GBP per day and need to find a way of transferring larger amounts economically to put down a deposit on a house - if we ever find one!
