Hi, I am moving to Australia in the next 6 months. I would like to know how to move my pension.
I have been in contact with the Inland Revenue and they say that I can keep making volutary payments so that when I am 65 I can have a 100% pension payed to me in Australia.
I spoke to my private pension today and they said that all I have to do is make sure that my superannuation company in Australia is one that they can deal with - ie. certain requirements have to be met. There will be changes to all this on 6th April so they couldn't seem to tell me much more.
I also know that after 6 months I may will be taxed in the U.K, if I havn't moved my pension by then, on any growth that has happened in those 6 months.
My question is, is there any other problems I have to watch for when sorting all this out. I dont really want to use a company as they seem to charge a lot of money just for meetings!!! I have processed my visa on my own so I think I should be able to sort out my pensions!!!!
Also does anybody know of good super funds in Australia? And did you transfer your pension into it.?
Hello, I have recently enquired into this myself, and I have had some recommendations from friends in Australia, the below link in a Super Fund called CBUS, originally setup for Building Industry, although now offer to joe public, from what Im told the fees are minimal, and the returns are above average, so far this is my preffered choice - see what you think, Id be interested to hear how you get on, as I will be moving out by end of this and will face the same battles, also interested in what the '6th April' change might be... Good Luck
