I am being honest here and hope you appreciate this. Several years ago I had a business and I closed the doors owing money to traders and the Inland Revenue. I have paid as much as I can but I am now being threatened with Bankruptcy by the Inland Revenue. Most of the money owing to the Inland Revenue infact two thirds is penalties. The debt is going up and I have been paying it for five years. If they go ahead with this, does that mean that I will not be able to enter Australia? I have already got my TRA. Any help would be appreciated.
Firstly, if you don't presently have an advisor helping you with the tax debt issue I encourage you to make contact with someone ASAP. There is a body called TaxAid, and you could do worse than make contact with them: http://www.taxaid.org.uk/tax_debt.cfm
As to your planned migration, I don't believe financial difficulties preclude a successful migration application.
Best regards.
