Hi,

I need some advise about the following. Currently I have 100.000 euro savings. ABN AMRO (Netherlands) gives me an interest rate of 3%. Does anybody know what intrest rate I can expect in Australia. And thus if it is profitable to transfer the money to an australian bankaccount

You may find it useful to speak to the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. When we opened our account with them we were given a special interest rate for about 3 months. If you transfer your money on a good deal then it may be worth moving it. Of course the other thing you want to think about is the exchange rate and if it is the best time to change your money into AU$. Try talking to someone at HIFX or another currency exchange specialist.

Kevin,

You can expect an interest rate of 5% on your savings in Australia (and often more with online savings accounts). Have a look here for more information:

Best regards.

PS. As you probably know, a movement against you in the exchange rate would soon eliminate the interest rate gains ...
