We've been in Perth for 2 years now and want to update our wills. Just wondered if anyone has any tips for wills in Australia. Are our current wills from the UK valid over here? Can anyone recommend someone experienced in writing up wills for someone with assets in both countries?
It's a wider question than you might think - retaining a UK Will might have Inheritance Tax consequences for your estate.
As such it is difficult to give a straightforward answer beyond saying that if you have Australian assets I would usually recommend having an Australian Will prepared, which might need to have regard to a previous UK Will.
Best regards.
