I am coming over to Aus on a 457 visa. My boyfriends compancy have asked him to continue working for them whilst we are over there, working from home. They have said that it may be easier for them to keep him on the UK payroll and therefore pay his salary in pounds, not dollars. Does anyone have any advice as to whether this is a sensible option? I can see benefits to both scenarios but am not aware of what the potential disadvatages may be in terms of tax etc. Any advice would be appreciated.

hopefully his own 457 - although my company have agreed that he can go on mine if needed. obviously it would be better if he went on his own..

So does your boyfriends company have an Australian subsidiary ?? He would have to be sponsored by an Australian company in order to get a 457 visa. He would then be on their payroll and be paid in dollars wouldn't he ?? I would think that he would at the very least be liable for Oz tax.
