Hi,

this is a complicated one and I urgently need to make an appointment with an expert, but until I can: If my Dad emigrates to oz on a 405 and myself on a student visa (and then applying for PR), what tax implications would there be on the $500,000 that i would inherit in the event of my father`s death? And any investments still in Belgium (under Belgian inheritance tax if you are a non-resident in Belgium your heirs dont pay inheritance tax on investments etc only on a property in Belgium), but my question relates to the Australian side of the situation. Is there a difference with regards to inheritance tax between having a temporary or permanent visa status for my dad and myself? I know it`s a difficult one, but if anyone has some advice? Thanx, Steph
