Hello,

I would like some advice on the tax implications of leaving our house in the UK after we leave for Sydney at the end of April. We are not planning to rent it out though, we will be leaving it vacant instead until it sells - it is currently on the market, so we are hoping it will not be for a very long period.

Any advice on if we will be taxed and by whom etc would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Sarah

Assumeing you rent in Oz you can continue claiming your UK house as your principle place of residence for up to 6 years (even if it's rented out) and pay no CGT in Oz.

Hi Kiwipaul,

Thanks for replying. Since posting this message, we have actually sold the house to someone who can complete on the day we leave, so it's all fit in very nicely!

Regards

Sarah
