We are hoping to move to Perth at the begining of October. We cannot sell our house at the moment as we have a legal issue regarding our drive which has been going on for over a year. So we are going to rent our house out to my dad when we emigrate. When we can sell our house what tax implications will there be if we have been there for 2 years for example. Need to know if it is worth going or just validating and hanging on for up to another 5 years. Really dont want to do the later as our kids are 3 and 5 and think that is an ideal time to move being there age. Read the previos post about offset exchange rates but was not to sure about how much of a time limit there is. Also am due some inheritance but will not recieve any money until the estate is settled. Will there be any tax issues there. It is not a big amount. I think i am right in thinking inheriance is taxed over £250 000 but not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Hannah

Re Inheritance Tax: it is payable by the estate of the deceased, not by a beneficiary of the estate.
