David, Although many more outgoings incurred by individuals are deductible under the Australian tax system as compared with the UK's, I think it unlikely that a flight to the UK with be an allowable deduction under Australian tax law unless the purpose of your visit to the UK relates to an income generating activity (eg to attend to a property that you are renting out). Best regards. quote: Originally posted by David.S: Hi all (new user here..),
I am in Oz on a temp resident 457 long stay biz visa. I am a 'resident of Oz for taxation purposes'. I plan to go home 1-2 times a year to see family /friends in UK. An Inland Revenue form I have (IR134) eludes to me getting 'tax relief on travelling expenses for people going to work abroad....'. Does anyone have any experience of this? Struggling to get info from I.R. If I could offset flight costs against Oz tax then that would be pretty handy.
Thanks for any help.
