I can only give you information for Victoria, as that is where I will be going. Here is the link to the Vic home grant site http://www.sro.vic.gov.au/sro/srowebsite.nsf/rebates_fhog.htmI think other than it being a true first home in Australia, the only requirement seems to be that you hold permanent residency. I hope this helps. Cheers Marilyn

There are two types of First Time Buyers Grant. The first is currently $7000 and is a Federal initiative so therefore is applicable to anyone in Australia who buys a property for the first time in AUSTRALIA. All people listed on the deeds must be Permanent Residents and must also have never owned property in Australia before. The other part varies from state to state and is administered by the state. It provides an exemption to paying transfer and mortgage stamp duty on homes valued up to $500k. As an example in NSW if you bought a house worth $420k and have a mortgage of $280k then the duty payable will be $15k - all of this would be exempt for first time buyers. THIS IS NOT THE SAME IN ALL STATES !! http://www.firsthome.gov.au/This is the govenement website that lists all you need to know for every state.

Yes, Just bought a house in Redlands and you will get the grant if its your first Aussie property.
Tend to snatch it back with stamp duties etc, but it all helps
