Stacey Follow this link through to the Australian Taxation Office where individual income tax brackets can be confirmed. http://www.ato.gov.au/individuals/content.asp?doc=/cont...mnu=5464&mfp=001/002If you are earning $60,000 then you would be looking at paying annual tax of approx $13860 if I have got my calculations right. You pay 30c in the $1 for every $1 you earn over $21,600 between $6,000 and $21,600 you pay 15c and under $6,000 no tax paid. You will also pay 1% medicare levi (if perm res) as you are earning over $50,000 (thionk that is still the current rate). We live in the Northern Suburbs of Perth and got a mortgage with HSBC within a month of arriving. I had a job offer and a Contract of employment which was enough to secure a loan of 3.5 times my salary. We did have a large deposit to put down on the house which may of helped. You can get a mortgage before you leave the UK. We didnt know we could do this before we left our jobs and the UK so could not take advantage of it. It may be worth you investigating this option. Good luck with the move Sharon http://www.immigrateperth.com
