What kind of lifestyle could one expect if they were earning $100 - £110,000. I have looked on the cost of living calculator on here and what we are earning in England it says comparative in Australia would need to earn $25,000. Is this an up to date figure of what one needs to earn to pay $1500 mortgage and whatever the other bills are to still have some money left out of $25,000. Any advice appreciated. Thanks

Have a check at the posting "Take home Pay" I have asked the same question. In alll the research that I have done $110K seems to tick the boxes. I am going to Melbourne with Wife and 3 kids, I dont think she will work unless it is for a few dollars for her, ie no need for her to work!

Hope this helps

We can afford to live on 1 income. We have a $2000 per month mortgage and I earn $75k.

We dont smoke, gamble or drink that much but we do have a good life and afford a holiday each year for a week.

So 100k per year you would be VERY comfortable and be able to smoke, drink and gamble if you so chose to do so !

No car payments - we completely own both of them.

However we do owe some money on a credit card but are managing to pay that off progressively.

Why do you ask ?

Thanks Colin. I was just curious how other people do things. It helps me sort things out.
